This commercial
advertises Open English, an online course that teaches English to Spanish
speakers. It targets people in Latin America who want to learn English and
might not necessarily have time to attend classes. In order to make their
product more appealing, they compare it to other English lessons. This other
program is presented as being ineffective as shown in the accent of the guy who
uses it and old school as portrayed through the teacher’s outfit and black
board. On the other hand, their program uses high technology, results in a good
accent, and displays a good-looking American teacher.
